I am the Assistant Vice-President for Academic Information Services at CSULA. I have an extensive background in instructional technology. I see the hardware and software upgrades on campus as being an exciting time for faculty, students and staff, especially with the implementation of Baseline and 24 hour access to computer facilities in the near future. My vision is one where we continue the work begun in the Baseline Plan, and then go beyond it to provide further enhancements in the areas of collaborative and active learning for both students and faculty, and provide our students with computer skills that enhance their access to information, acquisition of knowledge, and competitiveness in the market place. SPECIALTIESCurriculum delivery using the Web and the Internet. Development of interactive material for statistics courses. Training faculty in the use of the Web, WebCT and the Internet to enhance and improve curriculum delivery. Use of productivity software and the Internet to develop a paperless classroom environment. I am certified in IT Project Management and E-Commerce by the Gartner Institute. BACKGROUNDI have a Ph.D. from the Ohio State University (received in 1982) I did my undergraduate
studies at Sonoma State College (BA received in 1978). I have been a Professor at CSULA
since 1982. I have extensive experience in banking and finance, project
management and macroeconomic policy in the Caribbean, Central America, Africa and Asia. I have
worked with USAID, FAO, USDA, IFAD, and WOCCU in the following countries: Honduras,
Dominican Republic, Dominica, Jamaica, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Kenya, Mauritius, Rwanda,
The Gambia, Poland, and South Africa.
